Nearly two years has passed since you elected me to represent you in Harrisburg to control government spending and intrusion into our lives. What a privilege that has been! As we move into the fall election time I am asking you for your vote on November 2 to continue the fight in Harrisburg.I have been able to fight to protect individual income by helping derail the Governor’s plan to increase state income tax and by working to keep state spending under control. We need to keep more of your money in your pockets, not send it to Harrisburg. While working on the Education and the Labor Relations Committees, I have helped thwart the enactment of ill-conceived laws by preventing them from being forwarded to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
Among my greatest concerns and efforts has been working to eliminate property tax. I am a co-sponsor on HB1275, which eliminates the school portion of property tax; this represents approximately 68% of the total. This battle will continue because there is very little support for changing property tax in the state. If you have had the opportunity to attend any of my public meetings, you have heard me discuss why this is a tough battle. If you would like more details on this issue, please be sure to contact me.
However, the opportunity to work across party lines to advance good legislation has been encouraging.
As you can see, most of my time has been spent in combating the waste of this administration and slowing their progress in bankrupting our personal budgets. This fall we will elect a new governor and we have great prospects to BUILD a stronger Pennsylvania. I look forward to this more positive emphasis!
